Way to improve your business through digital marketing
In the simplest way, Digital Marketing is the promotion of products and services using electronic means. It is the umbrella term for all tactics used to promote business online.
The main difference between Digital and Traditional Marketing is that Digital marketing happens online (eg: Social Media), while Traditional happens offline (Billboards, TV, Magazines, etc…)
Channels/Platforms are tools or areas where digital marketing is being used. Let’s dive deep into what they really mean.
Definition of different Digital Marketing Channels:
- Social Media-These platforms consist of websites and applications that enable people to create and share content
- Pay per click-Also known as PPC, it is a channel of digital marketing where advertisers pay a fee each time an ad is clicked. A common example is Search Engine Advertising and Google Ads is the biggest form. Under google ads, you have search campaigns, display, and shopping ads.
- Affiliate Marketing-An affiliate is an individual or another business that promotes your business on their platform for a profit of sales they generate.
- Influencer Marketing-Influencers are used to increase brand awareness and they can also be affiliates.
- Email Marketing-The use of email to promote products or services. This is a great communication tool to interact with potential and existing customers.
- SMS/Digital Messengers-Just like email, this is the use of messaging apps to develop relationships with potential customers or clients.
- Digital Billboards-These are visual advertising placed in busy areas in Cities.
Organic Marketing: Most of the channels mentioned above are not free and require payment for getting you sales. However, there are ways to inform people about your business organically. Here are some examples:
- Social Media-Although you have to invest money in social media ads nowadays to be more visible, this is still a free channel.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)-Increasing the number of visitors to a website by obtaining a high ranking placement in search engine results page (SERPs)
- Direct Website Traffic –Since people are constantly searching the internet for solutions, your business could show up to them and they will find you organically.
- Google My Business –With a Google My Business Account, you get more than a business listing. Your free Business Profile lets you easily connect with customers across Google Search and Maps.
- Customer Reviews-Customers who are highly satisfied with your product/service are your biggest ambassadors. Most of them are eager to recommend you and write reviews for free or for a small percentage off their next purchase!
